Hello,
If you receive a "HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found" message on an Exchange 2013/2016 server when you try to connect to https://localhost/autodiscover/metadata/json/1, this is the blog post for you!
Overview:
While working on an Exchange 2013/Skype for Business integration project, the step to configure the partnership with Exchange in Skype failed (New-CsPartnerApplication).
When we connected to https://autodiscover.domain.com/metadata/json/1, a 404 page was displayed. We performed troubleshooting such as resetting the Autodiscover virtual directory and verifying the auth config had the appropriate SSL certificate assigned to no avail.
Solution:
Verify the Frontend Autodiscover virtual directory path is set to the correct location:
a. Launch IIS Manager
b. Expand Default Web Site
c. Select Autodiscover vDir
d. Click Advanced Settings under Manage Application
e. Change physical path to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\Autodiscover
